Noise attack supports DIY bands when I like their music and are good friends. Small events and gigs are frequently organized, in Athens and the rest of Greece, however I make it clear that I am not a promoter or anything like that.In Grind we Crust!!Noise Attack distrohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07509856535452621523noreply@blogger.comBlogger10125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7416596855105086017.post-78154308367349581362011-11-18T08:26:00.000-08:002011-11-18T08:26:30.039-08:00ALIVE!!!That does not kill you makes you stronger ... Greetings Ondra, my friend. Is everything ok there?
Hello Pavlos my friend, thanks for asking. Everytime it should be better, but also worse, hmm?

2. You have just released a very good split 7’’ with Kursk. Give me some info about it.
Well, it was out in august 2008 in a contribution of three labels: Halo of flies (USA), Amertume (Fra) and Rimbaud Records (Ireland). We talked about this split EP with Kursk a long time ago, but both bands has own priorities, lots of upcoming releases and at not least we found a label which wasn..t able to do it – so finally it..s out thanks to that three labels mentioned above in press of 1 000 copies (including 100 pcs of green color vinyl). We have there 6 new songs, I think our best to this date. Kursk from Canada are killer, psycho grindcore with influence from dark hc like Neurosis. Brad (ex drummer) from Head hits concrete play there. EP is still available, so get in touch in a case of interest.

3. I am following your course for about ten years now and i have noticed that you tend to be pure D.I.Y.. Why have you chosen to follow that path?
Why? That..s simple, we started to be a part of this DIY scene 10 years ago and there..s no reason why to leave. This way is still the best one for us, it..s simply sense of our life, the network of friends with similar views, attitude all around the world who keep the diy scene alive and that..s great!
After ten years of existence some bands around us dreams about release on major label who manage a tour for them, ensure a lots of fans, earn money for them etc. Fuck them! We still play gigs just for a gas, some veg.food. and sometimes don..t get even this! I respect all active people in today..s scene who organize gigs, play in bands, go on hc gigs, support local underground scene, support animal rights, don..t share that shitty manners of today..s modern society – just put their free time to some activities which are unprofit and they deserve our support and huge neverending respect.

4. I also know that you one of the organizers of Play Fast Or Don’t, one of the biggest D.I.Y. festivals. Tell me some things about the criteria that a band has to have in order to a part of the line up.
Yes, right i am directly „father“ of this fest. There were 5 parts of Play fast so far and now we have to find a new place because the old one was closed. Just now we are thinking about attitude of festival – last year we had fuckin.. great line up, many people came and there is a question: if we want to continue in the way like this, fest will be bigger and bigger, more well known. Or do it just in „smaller“ way, a few bands and schedule just for one day and for smaller audience. We..ll see. But for sure it is and it will be still DIY festival with DIY bands for all kinds of extreme hardcore. No place for gore/porno grind/death bands or modern metal/core bands.
That..s hard to talk about criteria, I am tired to answer to all of bands which asked me for playing on Play fast. I am really really sorry but fest is not for 300 bands, we cannot say „yes“ to everybody. I spent lots of my time during a year to arrange and fix many issues for festival, so we want to have in the line up bands which we really like!! If you see a line up from last parts, you can see a bands like Unholy Grave, Agathocles, Warcollapse, Hellnation, etc. We want to put together awesome show with basic bands of today..s diy extreme hc plus young unknown bands from czech and from everywhere in DIY way.
Always general criteria is just to play fast haha!!

5. Describe the situation concerning the D.I.Y. lives in the Czech Republic. Do people support the scene?
Yes, situation is quite cool since few last years. Lots of people on shows, new fanzine..s, enough people runs distributions/labels, many shows, lots of new bands, old bands better and better! Maybe I miss more politic-social-eco activities like in ..90, but DIY scene is still here alive and stronger than before!

6. Please, give me some info about your releases so far.
Ok mate, here it is:
Split ep Lycanthrophy/Kursk

Plus lots of split tapes,Cdr..s released in Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Europe etc.and songs on various compilations released around the world. Thanks to the all labels who helped us to spread our music/attitude around the world.

7. As in every country so in yours there are different opinions about the grind core scene. What i mean is that i want you to tell me if the scene there is separated to those who choose the commercialism and to those who stay D.I.Y..
Ehh, I don..t care about czech grind core scene. As you said it..s different opinions from various sides, I spent lots of time in discussing with guys who think that they are grindcore gods and i don..t want to be a part of czech so called grind scene.There..s NO grindcore scene anyway.
There are maybe two or three pure diy grindcore bands which are part of hardcore/crust scene and the rest grind bands are part of metal scene, releasing just CD..s, share a stage with metal stars, play on big festivals along with SHITS like Mayhem....as I said i don..t care.
I listen to Insect Warfare stuff and smoke hash, you know :-)

8. Last summer you toured for the first time in Europe. You also played in Greece. What do you have to say about the two performances here? What are your memories?
No, we toured in Italy/Slovenia along with Mass genocide process (czech crustcore) in 2006, in 2007 we were on summer fast tour 07 with Saywhy? (Ger, Belgium, Holland, Great Britain) and the tour you mentioned was the second one with bastards from Saywhy?. Yes, we played in Greece for the first time, as well in Macedonia. Greece is very nice country, but in July there is very hot weather hahahaha. Gig in Kavala was not so good, but everything in Thessaloniki was excellent. I would like to say thanks to all who helped with gigs, gave us food, place to stay, talked with us, cheers to great bands which shared a stage with us and everybody who helped us in any way etc.Special thanks to you for all, it..s too many to mention, you know :-)

9. What are the future plans of Lycanthrophy?
Well, we have lot of plans but it depends on lots of factors like vacations in a work, health of our singer Zdisha, she is very often ill and we have to cancel gigs often etc. We would like to go on European tour as usual in summer, make some short „three gigs“ weekends in Holland, Slovakia, UK and Germany. We have some other offers on touring along with Magrudergrind from USA and there is also possibility on touring USA, we..ll see what..s happend.
Also lots of upcoming records in a plan, next week we..ll record 5 new songs for split EP with Polish grind core maniacs SUFFERING MINDS and the split will be out on Bullshit Propaganda Records (USA) in January 2009. Afterwards we will have a break with playing gigs and practise new stuff for s/t EP on Rescued from Life Records (USA), 3 way split CD (Blast rec. Australia)etc.

10. I would like to thank you for the interview. Say whatever you want for the end.
Pavlos, thanks for all and for friendship. Thanks for all to all people in Greece! If you want whatever from us just ask us. Support DIY scene as you can, keep this network of friends alive. Cheeers

1.Greetings, Dan. What are you up to?
DAN: Hi Pavlos, how are you? Just working, rehearsing and answering this interview!
2. Mesrine is a band that exists for a long time. You have chosen the old school way, concerning not only your music but your style in general. Why is that?
DAN: Basically because that's the kind of stuff that appeals most to us. It is a conscious desision to keep the style like that, because we are not much into technical stuff with 3 million time changes and 357 riffs per song. We prefer the feeling that the old school sound provides, it is simple but effective and straight to the point. It's what we want to play, simple as that. All my personal favorite bands are pretty much in the same way as well, for any style of music i like.
3. It’s a fact that the recent years more and more people turn to extreme sound. What is your opinion about that?
DAN: I don't know, maybe i never noticed...? Myself i have been into this since the late 80's so i have seen many trends come and go. But i guess it's true that there are more extreme grindcore bands than there ever was. I really couldn't explain this, maybe there's an honesty in this music that you don't find in others. It's really a no compromise style of music that does not appeal to the average person on the street. But the guys who play in the bands are really passionate about it and love this kind of music. To me this music is just like a huge 'fuck you' to all the shit that pisses me off, it's very satisfying music to play!
4. What do you think about those people that use the grind scene in order to make money? I am not talking about labels only but also about people that will do everything in order to achieve that.
DAN: Well i say good luck to them, because you can't really make any serious money with this. They should just fuck with another scene. Grindcore does not rhyme with money, so why waste your time? Just don't buy records from people who sell them at too high prices. I think it's ok to make a minimum of profit if you play shows, sell records or have a record label, it's just normal. But to use the scene just for that then you're in the wrong place and you will basically dissapear soon enough because people will not support you.
5. I know that there is political grind and hard core in your location. Many “big” bands like insect warfare, split because they cannot face the commercialism. Do you think that commercialism helps the scene?
DAN: No not at all. I don't know if that band in particular is commercial or not, but if you talk about commercialism it's more very big bands. It would be hard for me to name you one single grindcore band that i think is 'commercial'. Back in the early 90's when labels like Earache got distribution with a major label then that was Earache's fault to try to make his label more commercial. Then bands started making cheesy videos and shit. But the music was too brutal to have a wider appeal so it all fell through. It's not as it used to be when the 'big' bands like Carcass, Napalm Death and alot of the death metal bands changed their style to become more popular. Now the bands keep playing the brutal shit, even going back to their roots so i don't think 'commercialism' in the scene is a real existing problem anymore. There are so many small DIY bands and labels that you always have many alternative choices.
6. Tell me some things about your memories from the second European tour you did last year.
DAN: Well actually it was this year in july 2008. It was a relatively mshort tour, only two weeks, but it was great. The first gig was OEF and it was the biggest gig we have ever done, really good. Lots of good reactions. We met tons of people from all over the world, really awesome. The rest of the tour was around Germany with our friends Who's My Savior and Holland, Belgium and one week in France with Roger Moore. It was a great experience it's always very nice in Europe, better than in Canada. People are more open to this style of music.
7. Do you know any “small” bands that can offer something to the scene?
DAN: Of course any small band can have something to offer, as long as they play from the heart and are not concerned with trends, popularity, money and all that stuff, then its all good. I prefer smaller bands in general as P.L.F., Suckcess, Roger Moore, Abortion etc etc there are too many...
8. Here in Greece is difficult to have Grind core bands from abroad to perform live, thought many people try to change this fact. Is there a plan from your side to perform live in my country?
DAN: Well i sure hope we can play in Greece some day. The problem i guess is the distance and not many contacts. If we tour Europe again it's definately a place we would love to play as well as Italy, Switzerland, Spain etc...
9. What are your future plans?
DAN: Right now we are preparing for a few gigs for the end of 2008, then we will start writing new songs for our next studio album which we hope to record by spring/summer of 2009 for a possible late 2009 release. We are also preparing some new split 7.... releases with bands like WHO'S MY SAVIOR (Germany), SAKATAT (Turkey) and F.A.T.O. (Canada). We have recently received our copies of the split EP's with ABORTION and P.L.F. We are also working on the LP release of our last album 'Unidentified' and are waiting for a bunch of other releases to see light of day. Also our first album 'Going To The Morgue' will be released on LP soon and the split cd with BADTRIPPE will also come out on LP. We like to keep ourselves busy and keep the releases coming...!
10. Thanx a lot for the interview. The final words belong to you.
DAN: Thanx a lot Pavlos for the interview (and sorry for the delay...!) and cheers to all the grindcore fans in Greece + those reading this.
1. Hello Tammi. For starters give me a short bio of Collision.
Cheers Pavlos, oke… here we go! Collision has started in winter 2000 with Björn (vocals, ex-Juice Tigers) and I decided to form a new band, because our current bands didn’t got shows or became to an end. I was (and still am) a really big grindcore band back in the days, so we decided to find some more grindcore friends. After a few line up changed we got a nice band together with Luc (guitaargh, The Masters, Pigtail, Juice Tigers), Marcel (bass guitaargh, ex-Sacrement, ex-V-Male), Job (drums, ex-Facegrind) and Björn and me on vocals. We start writing short and thrashy grindcore/metal/hardcore songs. When we got a full set we recorded a demo-cdr and booked some shows. We also played at the famous Obscene Extreme Festival with only a demo , and that show was really awesome. In 2003 we start recordings for our first full length cd on Bizarre Leprous Productions called ‘Romantic Display Of Love’. With that cd in our pocket we did more and more shows (like supporting Gojira in France, a mini tour across Czech Republic). And ofcourse like every band, we start writing new songs. These songs became our second album ‘Roadkiller’ on Bones Brigade Records. In the meanwhile we switched from bassplayer Marcel to Boris Janssen (ex-Mangled). We went to Czech Republic again for the Obscene Extreme Festival, did lots of support acts, did a tour with French grindcore band Sickbag and nice festivals. We also released a split CD with our grindcore buddies in DrDoom.

2. Describe me what your lyrics talk about.
Most of our lyrics deal about thing we are interested in: like horror movies, annoying things and a little politics. Mostly sarcastic haha!

3. The fact that you have supported live big bands like Agathocles, Saxon, Sinister, Inhume to name a few, helps in the way that you act as a band?
Yes I think so, playing on parties and garages is really cool, but to do gigs with some of our favorite bands is also awesome! We did shows with some of my favourite bands like Aborted, Unholy Grave, Gorerotted, Saxon etc.
Actually I even met Biff from Saxon when we played at the same festival as them (Rockweekend). But I think it helps more to do some festivals with other nice extreme bands. So lots of people get a change to check us our when they never heard of us!

4. Things in the scene of Netherlands are much different than any other European country. The bands don’t stick to political stuff. Is your band a pure metal band or do you have a political background?
There are some bands with tons of political stuff, but that doesn’t work for us. We are five individuals with different opinions, so it would be useless to sing about politics for us. We play in Collision to entertain people and ourselves. That is our main goal! But ofcourse we got some serious subjects in our lyrics like neo fascism (New Age Of Stupidity), the humanity vs the world (Vortex Of Disgust and Heading For They End) etc etc.

5. Your label (Bones Brigade Records), has a very good distribution. Are you satisfied with them?
Actually we got releases on more labels… and we are satisfied with every one of them. Bizarre Leprous helped us on our way because they introduced Collision into the grindcore scene, Bones Brigade for they good distribution and ofcourse Everydayhate and Scrotum Jus Records for helping us with the split CD with DrDoom!

6. What do you have to say about those that rip off the bands and make money from the scene?
Like everybody thinks of them, they suck haha. But I think if you wanted to make real money, you don’t have to form a grindcore band!

7. There are many people who would love to see you perform in Greece. How come and you have never been here?
We didn’t know, we really want to do some shows over there! I never visited Greece, so it would be a nice change to check it out. I hope we can do a weekend tour in 2009!

8. Tell me some things about your future plans.
For now we are writing new songs for our upcoming release. We are planning for a split release with Sickbag. You will find more information about this on our website in the future. I must say I’m really excited about our new material! Very aggressive songs haha! We also want to do tons of live shows in the future, so beware!

9. Thanx for your time. Last words belong to you.
Hello Gautier. I want you to give me a short bio of Yattai.
Hi Pavlos. Here is the bi, hope it won't be too long haha !!!!
The band was created end of 2004, with the aim of doing some grind music, nothing else.
We define our style as hardboiled grindcore because of the very direct but yet complex approach of the songs.
After a few line up changes beginning of 2005, YATTAÏ released his 1st demo and some more songs that feature on the following
releases :
- Split CD-R with GASTRICK BURST : "Dance, you stupid" on Traumatized Records
- The DPP's Compilation (Diffusion Phonographique Populaire)
- The Mutilated Records' Compilation "Spreading the Sickness Vol. I" (Mutilated Records) - "Emo Decimation" Compilation
(Dissected Angels Records)
- Split CD-R with DOSA/LOSTEROR/GRUUTHAAGY : "Experiment in terror" (Roots ACtive Productions)
A few shows later, YATTAÏ has been working on new songs for the next releases. The songs are faster, but also darker. In
december 2006, we recorded 15 new tracks for the following releases :
- Split CD with CAKEWET (Dead Cirkus Records)
- Split EP with GRUNT GRUNT (Dead Cirkus Records)
One song has been kept to feature on :
- Compilation Contribution Part 3 (Teriack Records)
And another ones features on the following compilations :
- DIY Double CD-R Compilation (In Grind We Crust)
- "Fast Compil" Cassette compilation (Sassbologna Records)
The next releases are now
- split EP with our great friends of THE FANTASTIKOL HOLE
- split CD with insane KRUPSKAYA
But unfortunetly, we've been told the split CD with KRUPSKAYA won't be released before 2009 now... What a sad story. haha
These songs, that have been recorded in february 2008, are heavier than before, more intense but also more varied.
We are going back in the studio in beginning 2009 for new a new split CD. I think the songs are more efficient, catchier, in
a real old school vibe but still tight as fuck as we love to play it !
Here's the line up :
will : guitars
daniel : guitars
vian : bass
thomas : drums
gautier : vocals
2. I know that you have released many splits. What about a full length?
In fact we all believe our music won't be as effective on a full length. We think our stuff doesn't deserve yet to feature on
such a format. Maybe we'll change our mind but now that the way we do things.
Another good thing about the split is the fact of sharing something with another band(s). I truly believe extreme stuff
should be more focused on sharing things. I love buying split stuff because it is always a good way to discover some new
stuff. But hey, you know, only stupid persons never change their mind he he !!!!
3. You have many extreme bands in France. Are there any of them that you like a lot? I mostly talk about not “big”,
underground bands.
We have many good friends in the french scene. To name a few : DESECRATOR, THE FANTASTIKOL HOLE, ZUBROWSKA, ESCARRES,
DISASTER, STUNTMAN, ATARA, TREPAN DEAD, NOLENTIA, PULMONARY FIBROSIS, DEEP VEIN, SICKBAG, ELYSIUM, EAT SHIT EXPERIENCE,
XAROS, SYLVESTER STALLINE, GRONIBARD, INHUMATE, FLY FUCKERS, MASS APPEAL MADNESS, CARMINA, IOST, etc... For those i don't
know personnaly : BLOCKHEADS, BENIGHTED, SURGERY, CRAFT, MONARCH, RAINBOW OF DEATH, INFEST, RISING TERROR... The list is
quite long in fact.
Try each one of them and be sure you'll find other connexions with the french scene.
4. How much has commercialism affected the extreme scene in France? It is a fact that many people worldwide start to listen
to these kinds of stuff.
Interesting question... To me, commercialism hasn't affected the scene. There are bands that have worked hard to have their
musician skill that now want to have better conditions when they play, when they record stuff. I think that is fair and even
a good distribution of their stuff won't allow them to live rich !!! haha
But something i truly dislike is a new kind of bands, considering they are the best and that believe they deserve the best.
They act like rock stars : they want the best label, they want money, they want everything... They make their show without
talking to anyone. That is not the right attitude to have. That is not the true UG attitude. Take care Icarus, you're too
close to the sun...
Talking about the general business, there are now labels that are well distributed and some of them, don't now act as an UG
label. They don't do trade anymore, and the prices of their releases is very high because they have distributors that take
lot of money.
To be honest, i'm happy for the bands that are now well distributed, that have great artworks and sound, but now the fan has
to pay an expensive price for that. I never forget i listen to blasting (or else) music. In france, some RELAPSE stuff can
reach 20€. 20€ for a blasting CD, cannot believe it !
On another hand, there are labels (old and new) that are truly dedicated to UG stuff with good releases but that are
sometimes hard to find. Not a problem for me, because i'm quite well involved in the small DIY distro and labels, but i can
easily understand that some people cannot get everything they want because they don't know where to find it.
That is a crucial question : what's the good way between handle the bands properly and being able to keep releases at a
reasonable price (so not to act like a major)...
5. What do you think about those who support that extreme stuff should only stay in D.I.Y. level?
DIY is the way we always were in and probably we'll always be in. It is important not to gforget the music we play : grind
music isn't a commercial stuff, so the best way playing a show or releasing stuff is to keep it DIY. You know that most of
our releases have been self produced ? Now, as i stop all my label activities, it is good for us to find label that want to
release it for us be we used to not wait for any kind of help in order to promote the band.
But, you know, people in ROTTEN SOUND now have deals that allow them to record stuff with great sound and good promotion. But
they never forget to be UG people (i saw them answering to lot of UG zines very nicely, after their show their talk to
people, etc). I think they are aware of their condition being a grinding band but just want to keep it higher and higher in
terms of tours and releases. Can we blame them not being DIY anymore ? I won't.
As i told in the previous question, to me, it is more a question of attitude than just a commercial/DIY debate. As long as
people doing extreme/UG stuff don't forget where they come from, seeing them having great opportunities isn't a crime.
Just it is not the way we live it that's all.
6. Which bands, if there are any are an influence for you?
Arghhhhhhh, this is a quite hard question... We all have many influences. I'm probably the most stupid grindhead of the band
even if i don't listen to that stuff only. We all have preferences going from dub to death metal, from hip hop to hardcore...
The band that makes the unanimity is REGURGITATE even if i think people won't feel it when listening to YATTAI's stuff.
Nowadays, i feel like our music is a mix between the swedish approach of the grind and something more complex, influenced by
the american scene.
Naming bands we feel influenced by would be difficult. Everytime i read bands talking about their influences, i don't
recognize any when i listen to them ha ha !!!! So i will keep these influences for me ha ha !!!! The real question is : what
people feel like our influences when listening to our stuff ? Don't hesitate to send me mails to tell me what you think about
it.
7. Are there any future plans for Yattai?
For now, i'd really like to release the stuff we recorded this year. So i cannot wait for the split CD and the split EP. Next
on the list is to do show whenever we can (we all have full time jobs that don't allow us to tour as we'd like to).
Something i'd truly want is also to go back in germany. We met lot of great people, it was a great time there.
We also are working hard for the next recording beginning of 2009. We already have about 7 songs and a BRUTAL TRUTH cover. I
truly love these new songs. Hope that will be the same for you.
Next real plan would be to see another countries. We have lot of plans in europe, hope we'll be able to go anywhere we've
been invited one day.
8. Talking about live performances i am aware of the fact that you have not toured in Europe yet. Is there a chance to ever
see you perform in Greece?
As i told in the previous answer, we've only been in Germany right now. We'd really like to make more if possible.
Playing in Greece would be great man, be sure we'd love to play in your country ! I'll manage that only for you my friend
haha !!!!
9. I would like to thank you for the interview. Choose the last words yourself!
Thank you man for that opportunity. Hope not having been too long in my answers.
Keep the right attitude and keep grinding ha ha !!!!!

1. Hi Szymon. How are you?
Hey. I'm fine, thanx. Cool to see anyone has an interest in my work.
2. First of all i would like to tell you that you do a fantastic job. I noticed that you mostly work with bands from the extreme scene. Is there a particular reason for that?
The reason is I like that kind of music, let's call it "extreme" or whatever. And I've been interested in that for a long time. My designs seem to fit the music I illustrate and people making that music seem to appreciate my work.
3. Give me a short bio of your work so far for those that don’t know who you are (bands you have worked with, labels and festivals).
Short? It's been over 10 years now, it can't be short... Bands like Insult, The Horror, Magrudergrind, Squash Bowels, Exit Wounds, Dead Infection, Sanitys Dawn, Sewn Shut... I guess over 50 bands/labels/festivals/gigs has something to do with my works, I'm not sure.
4. You have a very specific way to combine some colors in particular when you don’t create in black and white. Don’t you like the modern way of processing lay outs?
What do you mean by "modern"? Some plastic photo-manipulations which look all the same? Crappy and boring? Naaah, that's not my thing. I often make some combinations between photos and my own ideas, but it's more like collage, more oldschool.
5. What are the things you look at a band or someone before you decide to work with them?
First I need to know what they want from me, if my workshop is good enough to achieve what they want to see. Nice thing is if I like the band myself or if I'm interested in a festival or gig or whatever it is, I'm more engaged then. I like to see any sense in my work and my personal taste is very important. I stay away from porn/perv/gore/crap etc.
6. I would like you to mention some artists that have influenced you or you think high of them in general.
Vigil, Maruo, Beksinski, Yamamoto, Bernhart, Klimt, Mucha. All of them all time faves.
7. Is there a background behind your works? I am asking that because of the fact that you have worked in the past with political bands like Magrudergrind.
Political background? I don't think so... At least it's not my goal. Well, I have my own political views, but I guess I focus on a filth, bizarre or some surreal savage subreality. I keep politics out of it. Anyway if you see any message in that, that's allright.
8. As long as you get in touch with the extreme sound, be so kind to tell me some new bands that you think they can create something unique in the time to come.
Oh they will for sure or they do it for some time, The Endless Blockade, Extortion, Weekend Nachos, Mind Eraser, Blind to Faith, Tankslapper, Hummingbird of Death, Meatlocker, California Love...
9. What are your future plans?
Plenty of upcoming releases are waiting for my lazy ass to move on and work on them. I think I'll make a few works old way, too, I mean ink&paper. And would be nice if I finally have some more time and money to work on my own magazine.
10. Thanx a lot for the interview. Tell us anything you like for the end!

1. Hello Rafael! I would like you to give me a short bio of DISPEPSIAA.
-Rafael: DISPEPSIAA began in 2004, had a lot of line - up changes, broke up for 4 months in 2007 and now it is Gordo on mic, Ivan on guitar and me on drums.
2. Does the fact that ROT have a big history helps DISPEPSIAA as a band or does it make things difficult for you to handle?
-Rafael: That's a lame question, Pavlos!!! OF COURSE THAT IT DOES NOT HELP DISPEPSIAA WITH ANYTHING THE FACT THAT I'M IN ROT!!! Let's get things straight..DISPEPSIAA is DISPEPSIAA and ROT is ROT! Besides, ROT is out of activity and we don't even have an idea if we'll play or not again ..so all my effort goes to DISPEPSIAA right now.
3. You are a pure D.I.Y. old school band. Why is that?
-Rafael: There's no reason for it and really don't think about it and why should i!? That's a thing that all of us are involved since we were teenagers and we're still fucking excited with it so far. That's enough for us.
4. What is your opinion about the popularity and the commercialism that exists in the grind core scene the last years?
-Rafael: I prefer QUALITY than quantity!! Trends comes and goes...and there's nothing that we can do about it! People are people, and people at their majority, are FUCKING stupid! Our "lovely - sweet" scene is not an excpetion. But we can not forget, that are a lot of people doing great things!!!! Fucking great things! Anyway, friend...i prefer to do my things without worrying if it'll please the scene insetad of wasting too much time thinking about how everything got out of control..and for fuck sakes! IT'S BEEN A FUCKING LONG TIME AGO THAT PEOPLE FUCKING DISTORTED WHAT IS ALL ABOUT!!! You got it!? In every segment of extreme music, there's some crap! 'Cause like i said...people are people! What can we do about it, uh!? So yeah, with the growing interest in grindcore...it brings a lot of people, bands and labels who doesn't know a fuck about anything...but that's not a reason for you to stop doing your thing, i think! So if you hate all that crap in the scene, i say...START TO DO YOUR FUCKING THING IN THE WAY YOU LIKE!!! That's what hardcore means!!!
5. Tell me a couple of things about your lyrics. What are the subjects that interest you and are reflected in your lyrics.
-Rafael: Life itself.
6. How is the music scene at Sao Paulo? Is there any support by the people in the D.I.Y. phase?
-Rafael: I think we can not complain about it that much, you know...but it doesn't mean that it is pretty fucking cool or something. There are a lot of bands...a lot of gigs, some labels..but as nothing is perfect..there are some bad things on it as well. A thing that lacks here in my opinion, is more places for the gigs. I mean..places that ARE INTO underground. There are two places in that way overhere that are Espaço Impróprio and Estúdio Noise Terror. If we'd have more places like that ones it'd be just great! Another thing that it is fucking important and it fucking lacks..is festivals! There is a very nice festival that is called Musical Destruction Fest that happens around each 2 or 3 monts. Another festival that happens here is called Verdurada that happens each 2 months. These are the only festivals that happens regularly here in São Paulo. Now about brazilian scene as a whole..a thing that fucked underground labels right in the ass overhere, is that the only vinyl factory on the whole damn Latin America was closed sometime ago..so labels can NOT release their stuff on vinyl!!!!!!! That's a pretty fucking bad thing!!!! So labels only release their stuff on cd/cd-r or tape overhere! These are the bad things on the scene overhere in my opinion. Yeah..we got a lot of friends on the scene but we're not that kind of band that everybody wants to have in the gigs they are setting up, you know! But people are being very nice with us so far.
7. What do you have to say about the nowadays (european mostly) grind core scene? Are there any bands that you prefer?
-Rafael: From what i hear from friends who lives there, Czech Republic for example seems to have a very nice/active scene, but in countries as Serbia for example, it is very small. So i think we can not talk about the "european grindcore scene" as a whole and by the way, i could tell you something better if i'd lived overthere. About the bands, i prefer not to talk about only grindcore bands...i love bands like LE SCRAWL, DISTURBANCE PROJECT, NONSENSE which are back on its activities and it's doing great things, SAKATAT, NEEDFUL THINGS, VIOLENT HEADACHE, GRUUTHAAGY, AGATHOCLES is playing a fucking killer stuff once again in my opinion, ATENTAH NA SLUH, CAUSE FOR EFFECT, NETJAJEV SS, DEAD PENI, OBLITERATION, NAPALMED, NASHGUL, MASSGRAV, DAVE PHILLIPS, RABIES is a fucking blast, KUOLEMA, POPE ON ACID, BIZARRE X, DEATH TOLL 80K, HAEMORRHAGE, VOLITION (doomsters from Englad), INFAME, ENTROPIJA, MACHETAZO, GRIDE, LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER, RAS, MOBCHARGE, YACOPSAE still basting everything, DEAD INFECTION, SEWN SHUT, VOMIT FOR BREAKFAST, ACTIVE MINDS is back with a FUCKING great new record and many more, friend! Those bands are the first ones that came into my mind and i know that i'll be very sorry to forgot to mention another killer one that is not on this list. Is AUTOPHAGIA still active!?
8. What are your future plans? Is there a possibility to ever perform live in Greece?
-Rafael: It'd be AWESOME to tour over the "Old World" and Greece would be fucking interesting to know since it is a very beautiful place..to be honest, i don't know almost nothing about the greek scene, but just the fact that how it is a FANTASTIC place, it's enough for me. But unfortunately this is total out of question at least for now. Really hope to tour over Europe and every fucking part of the whole world someday!
9. Thanx a lot for the interview. The last words are yours to choose.
-Rafael: Thanks for your support, Pavlos! It is really appreciated! A split 7" with AXED UP CONFORMIST will be out on BRINGER OF GORE RECORDS (Belgium), GRINDBLOCK RECORDS (Italy) and JERK OFF RECORDS (U.S.A.)...it was supposed to be out already, but according to JOR, it is already on the pressing plant. Very soon, a split 7" with our mates of SUB CUT will be out on RESCUED FROM LIFE REC. (U.S.A.). For all those ones who are interested in friendship, trades or buy, my e-mail is (tngtbr@gmail.com).
If you don't know the band and want to hear something, our myspace page is (www. myspace. com/brutalgrindcore). Many greetings!!
1. Hello Semih. First of all give me a short bio for our readers.
Hey Pavlos! Sure bro, we started in early 2005 as a two-piece band and recorded the first rehearsal tape (2 minutes) down in our basement where we used to jam hen we have time and neighbours were not home. Actually we've never thought we would continue but when Marc from B.O.G. Productions asked if we would be interested in recording new songs for a split 7" we knew we had to do it. That 7" came out in 2006 as a split with might AGATHOCLES which should be already sold-out. In 2007 we had a new member, improved our sound and played few shows in Istanbul. Then recorded new tracks which later came out as a split 7" with ARCHAGATHUS in summer 2008. Also another split 7", this time with SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS came out last summer. I guess that's it the story so far.
2. I have noticed that you prefer the old fashioned way of releasing your material (mostly 7’’ and split taped). Why is that happening?
You bet we do! Since grindcore is not for the masses but for a minority, tapes and 7"s which come out in limited quantities seem to be the best option. Also we are fans of tapes and vinyl records. We might put out a CD someday though.
3. How did the split with the Greeks Cut Your Throat came up? Those goes for all i know have chosen to be completely D.I.Y..
I guess Antonis from Alcoholic Desaster Distro (with whom I was in touch for years, yamas bro!) was the one who came up with the idea. I had already received the self-released C.Y.T. CD from him and thought that was one of the best shit that came out lately so I thought we had to do that 7"! We've recorded our side in summer 2007 but it took the C.Y.T. dudes a while to record their part. A year later, when they finished their recording, our songs seemed to be lame so we decided to record new songs and forget about those we've recorded last year. Hopefully we will be able to record the shit soon because I can't wait to see the 7" coming out!
4. What do you thing about the extreme sound nowadays?
Grindcore scene in general is going strong. However I gotta admit that I kinda ignore the over-produced grindcore releases with so-called modern layouts and stuff since I like it raw and DIY.
5. Tell me some things about the subject of your lyrics.
We usually write lyrics about the situation we live in. Ignorance, hypocrisy, United Nations, distorted history, ignorance, borders, national press, ignorance, capitalism are some of the subjects we touched in last two records. I know some of them sounds cliche but you gotta see what is cliche in the i.e. Europe or USA is the reality for us. We always include translations of the lyrics in record sleves however if someone needs to read them, feel free to contact us.
6. The tour you did last year was a success. Did it help you to see some things different as a band?
It was definetely the best thing we've ever done so far! I gotta thank everyone who've made it possible! It did help us to see the way things work in Europe and definetely helped us expand our vision. We can't wait to come back soon!
7. Tell me some things about the scene in Turkey. I know that there are many bands (mostly black metal and brutal death). Are there any good grind core bands also?
Turkey has always had bunch of good bands however there has never been a real scene due to lack of unity and stability. Bands come and go, usually without any proper release. Today we have bunch of good bands such as DECAYING PURITY, CARNOPHAGE, TRUTH WE DEFEND, CENOTAPH, DECIMATION, SELF TORTURE and the list goes on. You're right, death metal and black metal should have the most popular styles here. I like both, what I don't like is the the mentality that most of local bands have. Turkish bands, in general, have no idea what D.I.Y. is. Also people do not care if a band is racist, rock-star whatever you know? People don't care about the attitude. That's what pisses me off most!

8. Are there any political bands there?
Not really. "Politics" is kind of a taboo subject here. I can understand that because we've had some really destructive political events in the near history therefore people tend to stay away from politics. That's not an excuse though.
9. What are your future plans? Is there a chance to see you perform in Greece?
You can be sure playing is Greece is our first plan next to recording the new songs for the split 7" with CUT YOUR THROAT! The thing is we all live in different cities and have studies with different schedules. However I am sure we will make it to Greece in really near future. Hopefully to Italy too. Rest of the plans is recording new split 7"s and doing more live shows and maybe another Euro tour in 2009?
10. Thanx a lot for your time. The last words belong to you!
Thank YOU my brother! I hope you don't get bored while reading the answers, haha. Well, I would like to say hi to all the great friends in Greece! We can't wait to meet you guys again! You guys have a great scene there that we totally envy! Anyway, if anyone is interested in our new 7"s, feel free to get in touch! Yamas! (Semih & SAKATAT, September 2008)
